Self-taught artist and writer Gavin Delacour grew up in Mount Isa, Cairns and Townsville. His mother’s mother was a Waanyi woman from Burketown. Gavin has a colourful past which includes spending time in jail. It was during this time locked away that Gavin developed a love for writing and art while helping his own father illustrate his story ‘The Little Moo Cow’. Gavin’s first story ‘The Cranky Crocodile’ followed this time and he has since gone on to be a highly sought-after artist in his community.
