Kerensa McCann

Profile (Illustrator)

Kerensa ‘Kerrie’ McCann grew up in Brisbane, Uralla in New South Wales and Townsville. She later studied commercial art and human services. She lives in Townsville with her husband Mark and their two daughters. She is a carer for people with disabilities. Kerri became aware of her Aboriginal heritage as a teenager. Her great-grandmother named Topsy was born in the Normanton area and raised by the Banbury family. She died in her early twenties, leaving behind a two year old girl, Kerri’s grandmother, who was raised as a ward of the state. Kerri has enjoyed drawing and making story books since she was a child. She used a pen and gouache wash technique for these illustrations.
