Born of the Gugu Yalanji Burungu people at Mossman, with twelve brothers and sisters, Esther Fischer is culture proud. She went to Rocky Point State School and Mossman High, and has lived at Cardwell for over fifteen years. Esther has six children and a number of grandchildren. Esther’s writing is based on life experiences, motivated by what she’s been through, good and bad, and is often therapeutic. This book is based on an event that really happened when her sons were still at school age.
