Ruth Thompson
Profile (Author)
Ruth Thompson grew up in the Millaa Millaa area of North Queensland and eventually became a potter, visual artist and grandmother. While a student at Mareeba TAFE about ten years ago, her tutor John Beasley was impressed with the story she wrote. Subsequently Ruth illustrated it in line art and made it into a booklet for her family. She attended a workshop on picture story books. She struggled with her health. When the Black Ink Project was getting started, staff member Jeanie Adams went in search of Ruth and her story only to discover she had passed away. However Ruth’s sister and daughter encouraged Black Ink Press to pursue the project.
