Rodney Lucas is the second child in a family of three children. He grew up on a cattle stations around the Gulf of Carpentaria with his parents Bob and Donna Lucas. His grandmother was a Kurtijar lady from Normanton but her child, Rod’s father, was hidden because his father was not Aboriginal and in those days children of mixed relationships could have been taken away. Rodney now lives in Karumba and has become a respected artist, painting murals on Kuramba’s shops and other buildings, as well as canvases.
